Secretary Mayorkas calls keeping children safe “one of our most fundamental responsibilities.
The DHS Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) recently issued six key recommendations to support the department’s efforts to reduce child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA). The recommendations include establishing a dedicated office within the department to coordinate responses, engaging both public and private sector partners beyond law enforcement, creating a unified review system for investigations, providing mental health support for frontline personnel, expanding the Know2Protect public awareness campaign, and positioning the department to lead multi-agency efforts against child exploitation.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said, “A crime as heinous as child sexual exploitation and abuse demands the full weight of the Department of Homeland Security’s law enforcement and prevention capabilities… The reports put forward this week will help us fulfill one of our most fundamental responsibilities: keeping kids safe.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Mayorkas to be led by God in efforts to protect children from sexual exploitation and abuse.
- For DHS and other agency officials to be prudent in their efforts to prevent online child exploitation.
